Does Valentine’s Day make you sick?
It’s that time of the year again – love’s in the air and the whole world seems to have gone bonkers. Soppy love songs are blasted over loud speakers, red hearts in all shapes and sizes accost you from various directions, and lovesick couples can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other…
If you’re single and don’t have a Valentine – whether by choice or not – the shenanigans surrounding the Feast of St Valentine may have a thoroughly nauseating effect on you. So, how does a single person survive Valentine’s Day? It’s not like you can disappear from the face of the earth until the world stops acting gaga and things return to normal…
If you can’t beat them, join them – or so the adage goes. Many well-known brands generally offer special promotions during this commercially-hyped period, hoping to entice buyers to choose their particular product as a Valentine’s gift above those of competitors. If you’re a bargain hunter you may just have a whale of a time stocking up on fragranced lotions and potions, imported liqueur chocolates, and fine whiskey. Best of all, you won’t even have to share your purchases – all those delectable heart-shaped candies will be yours to munch on whenever you want.
By the way, who says a Valentine should be someone with whom you share a romantic relationship? Rules are meant to be broken. Feel free to invite family and friends over for a hearty meal and some fun and laughter – just because you can. Use the opportunity to show your appreciation for having them in your life.
A good idea is to visit the local old age home and adopt a Valentine. Maybe he or she would like to share the epic story of their greatest love with you? You can spend quite an enjoyable afternoon with someone who’ll truly appreciate your company. Go on, do something special for a fellow human being this Valentine’s Day. Love matters after all.
